Trust is a very important part of the relationship between client and therapist. Everything that is brought to the session will remain confidential unless any of the following apply:

  • The client gives written consent to pass on information.
  • A court order is received requiring information to be disclosed.
  • Information is passed in relation to terrorism.
  • Whereby the client appears to be in danger to themselves or other people.

However if confidential information is disclosed you will be informed of this prior to the disclosure wherever possible. At the start of therapy you will be asked to sign a form to confirm that you have agreed to this confidentiality contract.

What happens if I need to cancel my appointment?

From time to time, things crop up meaning you may need to cancel your appointment. I ask for a 24 hour cancellation notice. If this is not made I may charge for the cost of the session. This not only protects the counsellor/therapist but also your commitment to the process.
